Brant Publications is looking for bright, energetic individuals who are seeking entry-level internship experience and the opportunity to gain exposure to magazine publishing.

As the publisher of ART IN AMERICA MAGAZINE, THE MAGAZINE ANTIQUES, and INTERVIEW MAGAZINE, we provide an environment in which interns can assist experienced professionals and gain invaluable exposure to what a career in publishing entails. Our Internship Program focuses on one-on-one interaction with key staff members and provides extensive insight into becoming a magazine professional.

We are interested in recruiting motivated individuals and are presently accepting resumes for unpaid internships for the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer semesters.

Internship Description: 

Human Resources Interns

Candidates who have an interest in Human Resources and a desire to learn about magazine publishing will gain invaluable experience assisting the Human Resources Department. Interns must be detail-oriented, motivated and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Good typing skills, knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel, and excellent communication skills are essential. The position offers exposure to the various aspects of the hiring process such as attending job fairs, tallying and sorting resumes, updating and maintaining agency contact lists & databases, and performing various clerical duties.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: BUSINESS/LIBERAL ARTS BACKGROUND PREFERRED WITH AN INTEREST IN HUMAN RESOURCES. This internship may qualify for academic credit. Please check with your school.

SALARY: THIS IS A NON PAYING INTERNSHIP.
We offer a stipend covering the cost of traveling to and from our offices by subway.

HOURS: YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE 2-3 DAYS A WEEK (preferably full days).
We are aware of educational demands and remain receptive and flexible when working out schedules.

Mailroom Interns

Interns will become familiar with the full scale of operations in a heavy volume mailroom. They will assist with shipping, receiving, packaging, courier and messenger services, and distributing of office supplies for all three of the Company’s publications. This internship allows applicants to gain exposure to essential services provided by companies to its employees.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: LIBERAL ARTS BACKGROUND PREFERRED. This internship may qualify for academic credit. Please check with your school.

Office Services Management Interns

Candidates who are interested in Business Administration/Business Management and have a desire to learn about the business side of magazine publishing will gain experience assisting the Office Services Department. The position requires candidates who are motivated, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent typing skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel, as well as excellent communication skills are essential. The position offers exposure to the various aspects of Office Services: assisting in product research, organizing business contact databases and files, administrative tasks, and interfacing with other departments.

Production Interns

We are looking for bright, energetic interns to work with our Production Department. The position offers exposure to the inter-workings of the entire art, editorial and advertising production process and the opportunity to work simultaneously on three separate publications. The right candidate will be detail-oriented and highly organized. MAC skills are a definite plus. Knowledge of art and pop culture is also beneficial. Please be willing to commit to at least three days a week.

SALARY: THIS IS A NON PAYING INTERNSHIP.

Publisher’s Interns

Professional, detail-oriented, energetic and highly organized candidates will be chosen as interns for the Publisher’s office. Working with the Executive Assistant to the Owner and Publisher, interns will be exposed to the advertising, editorial, and business operations of all three magazines. Tasks include general administrative work, research assignments, and independent projects. Qualified candidates will also be given the opportunity to handle assignments in different departments within the company. There is no editing/writing in this internship¬¬.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: GPA 3.5+, some office experience, and excellent communications skills required; interest in art history, fashion, and pop culture a plus. Proficiency with Word and Excel a must.
