If you must ask for time off from your internship (which does happen), here are some quick rules to follow:
1. ASK for time off, don't assume you have it.
2. Don't TELL your employer you are taking time off, always put in a request.
3. Plan ahead! You should be asking for time off with at least 3-4 weeks notice.
4. If something comes up and you must ask for time off, write an email, or speak directly with your boss. Apologize for not asking for time off earlier.
5. Fix The Problem. Suggest times when you will make up your hours.

Here is a pic that my brother took while I was on set. Yes, I dragged him with me at 5:45AM - he's a good brother!

We all know someone from our internships who has earned the title of "The Sluggish Intern". I put together a few points so that you can make sure you are NOT earning this title for yourself at the internship. Here you go:
1. The Sluggish Intern wears flip-flops to the internship.
2. The Sluggish Intern shows up wearing jeans with holes (even if they are designer).
3. The Sluggish Intern hasn't showered in a good 36 hours.
4. The Sluggish Intern hasn't combed his/her hair in a few days. They hope people don't notice.

Today I got an email from one of my amazing Intern Queen Campus Ambassadors, Joanna, who attends Texas A&M. She mentioned that she was reading my book (All Work, No Pay) and decided she was going to start her social media cleanse before applying for an internship this summer. A Social Media Cleanse? How catchy!

I enjoyed the Golden Globes tonight...but it raised the following questions:
1. Kate Hudson, I thought we were done with the Marching Band look? Is it back?
2. Why isn't Political Animals renewed for another season? I loved that show.
3. How come Damian didn't thank Claire?
4. Is Bill Clinton the President?
5. Kristen Wiig, cool dress, can I borrow it?
6. I wonder where Claire Danes got her amazing blow out? Dry bar?
7. How can I watch Salmon Fishing In Yemen?
8. Which was a more predictable win? Lena Dunham or Claire Danes?
